FOOD trucks are the latest craze to hit Sydney's streets, offering a range of new and unique food options to try at different locations around the city.
Belfield's Anthony Barbera started Smokin' Grill Barbecue two years ago and is attracting big crowds to his style of low-n-slow, wood-smoked barbecue meats at his transportable eatery.
"When I first visited The Acres Club at Greenacre, I immediately thought that it would make an ideal venue for food trucks," Mr Barbera said.
"I approached the club's management and they were very receptive to the idea."
Mr Barbera said bringing food trucks to the club had the potential of allowing residents to discover the fantastic facilities on offer at the Roberts Road club.
Bankstown Sports venues general manager Michael Clancy said The Acres Club would introduce a selection of food trucks each week.
The club will be launching with a four-day event from November 2 to 5, before rolling out different vans every Thursday evening through the month. Members and guests can come down and relax on the green on outdoor chairs, while you watch the sun set and enjoy a delicious meal.
Mr Clancy said the club wanted to try something a little different.
"Food trucks offer some of the tastiest food on the market right now, and it's a novelty to go along to these events and try something you may not normally eat," he said.
"Usually, you'd find these trucks at street markets or festivals or sporting events, and you have to sit on an old milk crate or park bench while you have your meal.
"The Acres Food Truck events offer the same gourmet food, but in a much more relaxed and comfortable environment.
"We'll have special seating on our greens, and guests will have full access to the club's facilities while they're here, including our bar which will be serving some of our Basement Brewhouse beers."
The first Acres Food Truck event will feature two popular and well-known food outlets.
Knafeh offers Jerusalem street food, served out of a repurposed shipping container, adorned with street art. Its famous Bearded Bakers will create their sweet desserts while entertaining the crowd with some singing and dancing.
Smokin' Grill Barbecue will also be there with their biggest offset smoker. Cooked with a traditional Texas-style in mind, these chefs have added their own Australian twist to produce something truly spectacular.
And of course, The Acres Kitchen will be open inside The Acres Club, offering a wide variety of food the whole family will enjoy.
Come down to the first ever Acres Food Truck event on Thursday, November 2, and see what it's all about.
